The Butler County Ag Expo is set for 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 13 at the Butler County Event Center.
The facility on the Butler County Fairgrounds will host the activities sponsored by Aurora Cooperative and Frontier Coop. The expo will be one of the largest events hosted at the event center since it opened for the Butler County Fair last July.
The event will feature a familiar face, Allan Vyhnalek, longtime extension educator for Columbus and Platte County.
Vyhnalek is specializing in farm succession through the Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
He provided the main topics of his lunchtime discussion:
*The need and importance of planning.
*Importance of effective family communication.
*How generational values effects communication.
*How the on-farm sibling is treated, fair or equal?
*Who you have on a team to work on succession.
*Make better use of your lawyers’ time.
The Lower Platte North Natural Resources District will provide nitrogen certification at 9: 30 a.m.
Private pesticide application certification is set for 1 p.m. For both certifications, producers must register with the Butler County Extension Office.
A free lunch is offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
