The public has until Feb. 6 to comment on the development of RC’s Chicken Ranch of Nebraska, LLC, a livestock facility proposed for a location three miles east of Rising City.
The site is owned by Julie Schmid and is located at 3095 H Road, Rising City.
The comment session opened on Jan. 4. Comments made should pertain to issues for which the Department has authority under the Livestock Waste Management Act.
The site is described as a medium poultry site with three buildings to house a maximum of 53,000 pullets and 7,000 cockerels.
The Department of Environmental Quality reported that it has reviewed the application to ensure compliance with the Livestock Waste Management Act and Title 130–Livestock Waste Control Regulations. Currently, the Department intends to issue a Construction and Operating Permit for the proposed facility. Upon completing a review of any written comments received, NDEQ will make a final decision on the permit application and respond to any comments.
