The Shelby-Rising City Beef Club, intended to bring local beef to be served at the local school lunchroom, is up and ready to go, however, S-RC is in need of donations of USDA ground beef, cattle, or cash so the Beef Club can process or purchase local beef.
It will take approximately two animals each quarter of the school year to meet the needs of serving students. The plan is to use the local beef for hamburger patty’s in the lunch program, with extra local beef being used in meals like tacos or spaghetti if enough is available.
Donations are tax deductible through the S-RC School Foundation and several arrangements can be made for animal donations. Processing must occur at a USDA certified facility.
Shelby-Rising City Schools is excited to highlight local producers and supporters.
