The Butler County Community Choir invites you to join them in rehearsals for a public performance of Christmas music celebrating the season.

The weekly rehearsals begin on Sunday night Oct. 1 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The rehearsals will be in the little white church at the corner of 7th and E Streets.

The performance will be held Sunday, Dec. 3 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 620 D Street.

The accompanist is Carol Fuxa and director Michael Eldridge. The concert will include music of the season by professional musicians from the Harris Academy of the Arts. The concert will be sponsored by the Butler County Arts Council and its supporters. Music will be provided and there will also be practice CDs for those participating. The featured cantata this season is “Night of the Father’s Love” described as “The Awe and Mystery of God with Us” by Pepper Choplin.

The director for this season, Michael Eldridge, received his undergraduate degree in Music Education and taught high school vocal music in which he directed several choirs, prior to becoming high school principal at East Butler.

He has been a lead bass singer for the past several years in the Butler County Community Choir and also led bass sectionals practices. Eldridge is looking forward to dusting off his directing abilities once again and welcomes all new and returning members. Not only does Eldridge promote the arts through the Butler County Arts Council for which he is President, but he is an advocate of enriching current arts programs in the schools.

This opportunity is one of many thanks to the support of many.

The arts council season is made possible thanks to donations from many sources. The Nebraska Arts Council, a state agency, supports this season through its matching grants program funded by the Nebraska Legislature, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment. Visit for information on how the Nebraska Arts Council can assist your organization, or how you can support the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
