Julia "Judy" A. Alt, age 87, of Shelby, Nebraska, passed away January 21, 2018 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City, Nebraska.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 26, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby with Father Leo Seiker officiating.
Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg is in charge of arrangements.
Julia was born January 7, 1931 to Alois and Mollie (Czapla) Jarecki in Columbus, Nebraska. She attended St. Anthony's elementary and graduated from St. Bond's high school in Columbus.
On October 6, 1953 she was united in marriage to Raymond F. Alt at St. Anthony's in Columbus. To this union three children were born. The family lived on a farm southeast of Shelby where Julia was a homemaker and farm wife. In 1994 they moved into Shelby.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Anne's Guild, the Calico Girls Club in Shelby, and American Legion Auxiliary.
Julia prayed the Rosary at Sacred Hearth Catholic Church in Shelby, volunteered at Aquinas High School, and was an exceptional baker and everyone loved her cinnamon twist rolls. She had a huge garden, enjoyed canning and using apples and cherries from their orchard to make pies.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alois and Mollie Jarecki; brother Emily Jarecki and sister Virginia Wemhoff.
Survivors include her husband Raymond of Shelby; children: one son Ron (Laura) Alt of Shelby; daughters Susan (Doug) Anno of Lincoln and Michelle (Doug) Hunter of Hickman; grandchildren Jennifer (Andy) Condon, Jonathan Alt, Bryant (Aubrey) Alt, Katrina Havlovec, Nick (Leslie) Anno, Rebecca Anno, and Riley and Alex Hunter; great grandchildren: Tyler, Trenton and Thorin Condon, Tucker Alt, Klayton Havlovec, Taylor, Emma and Elizabeth Anno; brother Alois (Sue) Jarecki Jr. of Columbus; sisters Dorothy (Ron) Shotkoski of Columbus, Lorraine (Jim) Gourka of Columbus and Margaret (Richard) Borer of Columbus; sister-in-law Karen Jarecki of Columbus; brother-in-law Ralph Wemhoff of Pearlland, Texas.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to donor's choice, Sacred Heart Catholic Church or memorials for Masses at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
