Lenora Augusta Alt, 94, of Shelby, passed away Feb. 15, 2018, at the Osceola Good Samaritan Society.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby, with Fr. Leo Seiker officiating. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Friday, followed by a 7 p.m. rosary at the church. Interment will be in the Shelby Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola has been entrusted with arrangements.
Lenora was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Rising City to Art and Ida (Hickstein) Grubaugh. She attended school at District 50 Butler County Elementary and graduated from Rising City High School in 1941.
On Nov. 5, 1941, she was united in marriage to Francis Alt at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby. To this union four children were born.
Lenora worked at Dale Electronic in Columbus for 10 1/2 years. She also had her own upholstery business in Shelby. She loved playing cards, crocheting, and was proud that she had crocheted over 200 names for people. She also enjoyed baking and made cakes for many weddings and graduations.
She was a member of Shelby Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Anne's Guild, and Legion Auxiliary Unit #296.
Survivors include her children Dianne Krebsbach, Carol Jackson, Richard (Margaret) Alt; 13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Lois Powell and Doris Stall; one brother Gene Grubaugh; sister-in-law Carol Alt; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francis, who passed away Oct. 14, 2001; son Frank Jr; parents Art and Ida Grubaugh; grandson Jon Jackson; great-granddaughter Bailey Jackson: brother Bob Grubaugh; sister Barbara Kastl; daughter-in-law Linda Alt; son-in-law Ted Jackson; son-in-law Merrill Krebsbach.
