Huskies rout the Storm

The Shelby-Rising City boys basketball team cruised to a 64-19 victory over High Plains at the Storm’s home court on Dec. 19.

A 13-2 first quarter set the tone for the game, with the Storm unable to get shots to fall against the Huskies. S-RC led 34-9 at the half.

The Huskies, led by Bailey Belt’s 17 points, didn’t need the three point attempts to control the game. Turnovers accounted for 24 of the Huskies’ points. The Storm was 0-4 from the foul line.

Aquinas sinks Bluejays with threes

Aquinas scored enough on three pointers to defeat Guardian Angel Central Catholic, but the Monarchs added another 34 points in field goals and free throws to defeat the Bluejays 64-24 on Dec. 22

The Monarchs led by 21 at halftime and cruised to a 64-24 road win over the Bluejays.

Senior Tyler Vavrina and Zach Zavodny scored 16 points apiece on 6-for-9 shooting, including 4 of 6 from beyond the 3-point line.

Aquinas led 35-14 at the break and 53-19 after three quarters.
