The David City volleyball team placed second in the Fort Calhoun Tournament on Sept. 2.

After a first-set loss, the Scouts came back to defeat Logan View 22-25, 25-10 and 25-14.

On offense, the Scouts were led by Olivia Couch’s 11 kills, and serving by Payton Andel and Bethany Tebbee, who recorded 4 and 3 aces respectively.

Fort Calhoun proved to have too much fire power, and the Scouts fell 11-25 and 14-25.

Fillmore Central tops Scouts, 3-1

In the season opener, the Scouts were competitive but fell short in Geneva, losing to Fillmore Central 25-20, 21-25, 22-25 and 24-26 on Aug. 31.

Junior Morgan Eickmeier's 19 digs and Senior Renee Backstrom's 19 assists helped to keep the Scouts in the game, along with Senior Olivia Couch's 14 kills. Macy Svoboda had 11 kills.
