East Butler 2-3 at DC West Invite
The East Butler wrestling team went 2-3 as a team at Saturday’s Douglas County West invite.
Two of the six Tigers went undefeated: Dalton Bohac at 145 pounds and Ryley Spatz at 138. Brandon Rezac was 4-1 at 195 pounds.
Coach Doug Glasshoff said the team copes with low numbers.
“Our numbers make it tough to win a dual, in couple of the duals, we won the most head-to-head matches but still lost the dual because of forfeit points,” Glasshoff said. “The level of competition wasn’t as strong today as what we have seen the past few weekends, but we saw some tough individuals and I felt we wrestled pretty well.”
The season has progressed so wrestlers have a better view of their standing in competition across the region and state.
“We are now into the big part of the season with conference followed by districts and state,” Glasshoff said.
Dalton Bohac’s win over Arlington’s Talon Mues, a 7-2 decision, and and Ryley Spatz’s win over Conestoga’s Dawson Hogue, a pin in 1:38, stand out as significant wins against quality opponents, Glasshoff said.
The Tigers are at home for the Crossroads Conference meet on Thursday.
