The Shelby-Rising City volleyball team picked up a road victory last week, topping East Butler on Sept. 26 at Brainard.
The Huskies also handled a coaching change. Longtime coach Sandy Voss stepped in as the interim to finish the season after coach Stacy Prellwitz resigned for personal reasons, said S-RC Athletic Director Terry Chadek.
The Huskies won in three sets, 25-20- 25-20, and 25-19.
“Coming off of many adjustments, our girls came out with enthusiasm and intensity to maintain what happened on our side of the court,” Voss said.
Tigers coach Karmen Widick said inconsistency costs her team.
“We played well for most of the match but we had about a six-point span in the middle of each set that we weren't able to overcome. During those runs, we didn't pass well and that cost us any chance of keeping pressure on them with our attack. We are still struggling with consistency, but the girls continue to work hard to correct that,” Widick said. “Playing matches every other night doesn't give us a lot of time to make a lot of adjustments during practice, so anything we try will play out during competition. I know we are a better team than our record indicates, and the girls realize that too.”
