The Aquinas girls followed the 2016 State Cross Country Class D State Title with a 2017 state runner-up finish at Kearney Country Club on Oct. 20. The Monarchs finished with 90 team points, tied with Malcolm. The tiebreaker came down to each team’s fifth runner. Aquinas’ Faith Kozisek was more than a minute faster than Malcolm’s Brealynn Wattier.

Ali Frasher was the Monarchs’ top finisher, crossing in 18th with a time of 21:29.2. Clare Fiala (21:51.55), Valeria Whitmore (22:06.03) and Mary Fiala (22:26.92) were the other scorers for Aquinas.

Ainsworth’s Rylee Rice won her second Class D girls title, this one by almost a minute, finishing in 18:44.7. The Bulldogs also won the girls team title with 60 points.
