The David City-East Butler-Shelby-Rising City softball team didn’t muster the hits needed to overcome Twin River’s late surge, losing 4-0 at home on Sept. 29. The game was a makeup contest for an earlier rainout of a Schuyler Triangular.

The Titans and Scouts were scoreless through four innings, then the Titans found a way to score.

“As is the case with a number of our losses, this one boiled down to not coming up with the big hit when we needed it,” said Scouts coach Greg Jahde.

The Scouts three hits came from Abbie Pierce, Sophie Mefford and Liz Benes, but the runners weren’t in place for the RBIs.

“Jordan (Roberts) piched well and our defense was solid, but our bats just didn’t get it done.”
