The David City wrestling team finished fifth at the Valentine Invitational with a couple of key wrestlers sitting out. The Scouts traveled to Valentine after competing in double duals with Columbus Lakeview and Schuyler at Central City.

Valentine took the title with 227 points, followed by Broken Bow, 204, Alliance 201.5 and Winner, S.D. 178. The Scouts scored 169 points.

Second place Seth Styskal, 113, lost a sudden victory 6-4 to Casey Faulkenberry of Broken Bow.

Clayton Harris, 120, won by forfeit over Talon Petska for fifth place. Harris had three pins on the day, but lost in quarterfinals to Jace Russman of Cozad in a sudden victory 17-4.

At 126 pounds, Noah Styskal won by medical forfeit in the third place match, after winning a 4-3 decision over Patrick Powers in the consolation semis.

Jacson Valentine, 132, was third with a 13-5 major decision over Aaron Gilchrist of Winner. He lost a technical fall to Jordan Kelber of Valentine in the semi final.

Justin White took the title at 138 pounds, getting a 6-2 decision over Julian Ramon of Valentine. He added two pins, then defeated Cooper Brass of Broken Bow in a 22-12 major decision in the semifinal.

Dylan Vodicka wrestled back from a loss by pin to Cole Ulmer of Broken Bow. Vodicka won a 4-3 decision over Chase Olson of Valentine for third place.

Matthew Eilers was second at 220 pounds, losing to Trayvon Brooks of Broken Bow in a 2:55 fall.
