The East Butler football team tuned up for the Class D1 playoffs with a 44-8 rout of Nebraska Christian Oct. 20 at Central City.

Dalton Bohac had a hand in five of the Tigers six touchdowns, throwing three scoring strikes to Camden Robley and another to Trevor Havlovic. The Tigers were in charge early in the second quarter.

Robley got the scoring started with a 5-yard touchdown catch. Then the Tigers exploded for 22 points in the second frame. Bohac carried in a four yard score, Carter Stara, who injured his knee in the game, escaped for a 50-yard run to the end zone.

Trevor Havlovic made it 30-0 at the half with a 16-yard touchdown catch.

The Tigers kept their foot on the gas pedal in the third quarter to get the 35-point clock running. Robley caught a 12-yard strike from Robley.

Nebraska Christian (2-6) got on the board with Ben Griess’s 6-yard touchdown run and conversion pass to Elijah Boersen.

The Tigers lost three fumbles and an interception, but the Eagles couldn’t overcome the physical Tiger defense to turn those turnovers into points. Robley and Havlovic were two main reasons, recording 9 and 10 solo tackles respectively. Brandon Rezac had 8 solo tackles and 10 assists.

The Tigers had a short recovery time before the first round of the Class D1 playoffs. The fifth-seeded Tigers(6-2) face Hartington-Newcastle (5-3) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Dwight. The winner will face the winner of No. 4 Nebraska Lutheran (7-1) vs. No. 13 Thayer Central, (4-4) on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
