It took a while, but the East Butler football team’s offense got rolling in the second and third quarters on the way to a 48-26 defeat of the Johnson-Brock Eagles on Sept. 15 in Dwight.
EB senior Carter Stara fended off a couple tacklers before bolting for a 44-yard touchdown in the third quarter to make the score 26-6. The Tigers’ 26 unanswered points came after Eagles’ junior running back Dylan Rowe scored on a one-yard run early in the game.
Stara rushed for 100 yards and Dalton Bohac added 79. Bohac ran for three touchdowns and hit Trevor Havlovic for an 11-yard score.
The Tigers racked up 451 yards in a balanced running and passing attack, while the EB defense held the Eagles to 232 total yards, with only 65 on the ground. The Tigers overcame two lost fumbles and 8 penalties for 85 yards. The teams combined for 36 points for a wild fourth quarter.
Justin Dvorak caught a 30-yard touchdown reception from Jayden Rhynalds in the fourth quarter to ensure that the Eagles wouldn’t get closer than 12 points.
The Tigers (3-1) travel to play Clarkson-Leigh(1-2) at Leigh on Friday. The Patriots routed Omaha Nation 53-6 on Sept. 15.
