School holds food drive
COLUMBUS -- The North Park Elementary Student Council hosted a food drive Nov. 13-17.
Thirty boxes of food for a total of 1,826 items were collected for the Platte County Food Pantry. The class that brought in the most food was Jennifer Mulder's fourth-grade class with 261 items, and close behind was Tyler Richters' third-grade class with 256 items.
All of the students were excited to help those in need.
CASA advocates sworn in
COLUMBUS -- Judge Frank Skorupa recently swore in Jamey Price and Denice Condon as CASA advocates.
Price and Condon completed the required training and will be advocating for abused and neglected children in the Columbus area.
CASA Connection, the local Court Appointed Special Advocate program, recruits, trains and supervises community volunteers to advocate in the best interest of children who have been placed in foster care because of abuse or neglect. For more information about CASA, call 402-563-4944.
