Central holding food drive
COLUMBUS -- A canned food drive for the Central Community College-Columbus Food and Hygiene Pantry will be held tonight during the home volleyball match against Northeast Community College at Raider Fieldhouse.
Those who bring two or more canned food items won't have to pay admission for the 7 p.m. match.

Blood drive in Schuyler
SCHUYLER -- An American Red Cross blood drive, sponsored by the Schuyler Knights of Columbus, will be held 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 5 at St. Augustine Parish Hall, 604 Chicago St.

Auditions open for Playhouse
COLUMBUS -- The Platte Valley Playhouse will hold auditions for “Leading Ladies” from 7-8 p.m. Sept. 5-6 at the Platte Valley Playhouse, 1158 35th Ave.
This comedy focuses on two English Shakespearean actors, Jack and Leo, who are down on their luck. When they hear that an old lady in York, Pennsylvania, is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long-lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The performance will take place Oct. 19–22 at Central Community College.

Blind group holding meeting
COLUMBUS -- The next meeting for the National Federation of the Blind Columbus Chapter will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Eagles Club.
This meeting is for those who are losing their vision or struggling with vision loss.

Food-handling course offered
OSCEOLA -- A ServSafe Food Handler Program will be held 1:30-5:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center, 531 Beebe St., in Osceola.
Cost is $20 per person, which includes the course book and additional classroom materials. Participants will receive a certificate of completion and continuing education credit is available for dietitians, diet technicians and dietary managers.

Burger feed supports hospital
SCHUYLER -- CHI Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will hold a hamburger feed from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Didier’s Grocery, 122 W. 16th St., in Schuyler.
All proceeds will go toward the purchase of equipment for the hospital.
