Campus Visit Day at CCC-C
COLUMBUS -- Prospective students who want to see Central Community College-Columbus are invited to attend Campus Visit Day from 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday.
Attendees will have an opportunity to tour the campus, meet faculty and learn about financial aid and scholarships.

City closures for Veterans Day
COLUMBUS -- Some city of Columbus departments will be closed in observance of Veterans Day.
Departments closed on Friday include animal control, Columbus Public Library and all departments located in City Hall. Columbus Area Transit, Columbus Aquatic Center and Columbus Community Center will be closed Friday and Saturday. Columbus Transfer Station will be open to licensed garbage haulers only from 8 a.m.-noon Friday. The yard waste site will be closed that day. The facility will be open for regular business hours on Saturday.
Quail Run and Van Berg golf courses will be open, weather permitting. Columbus and Roselawn cemeteries and all parks will be open. The street, wastewater, water production and water utility service divisions will be on call for emergencies. The Columbus Fire and Police departments will be available for all public safety responses.
Group meeting in St. Edward
ST. EDWARD -- A Community Builders meeting will be held 5 p.m. Nov. 15 in St. Edward.
Site visits will be made to Big Iron, Alida’s Picture Pages, Tami’s Flipping Vintage and Beaver Creek Smokehouse. The Grapevine will cater the dinner at Central Valley Ag. Mayor Dean Hamling will give the welcome, and Karen Asmus, workforce coordinator for the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, will give the program “Drive for Five Initiative: 500 New Employees in Five Years.”
Cost for the dinner is $10. Individuals planning to attend are asked to contact Mary Blaser at Cornhusker Public Power District by noon Monday at 402-564-2821. Community Builders helps individuals in Boone, Colfax, Nance and Platte counties learn about ways to improve their communities.
Knights planning soup supper
COLUMBUS -- The St. Isidore Knights of Columbus will hold a soup supper from 4:30-7 p.m. Nov. 19 at the St. Isidore Elementary School cafeteria.
The all-you-can-eat meal choices include chili, potato soup, chicken noodle soup, grilled ham and cheese sandwiches and desserts. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children.
