Electronics recycling event
COLUMBUS -- Keep Columbus Beautiful will hold a collection for used or broken electronics from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 2710 14th St.
Items accepted include televisions, computers, printers, scanners, phones, fax machines and radio equipment. Charges for televisions are $20 for 20 inches or larger and $10 for 19 inches or smaller. Items not accepted include microwaves, refrigerators, stoves and toasters.

Pals holding fundraiser
COLUMBUS -- Big Pals-Little Pals will hold its 15th annual Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday at Westbrook Lanes.
This is the only fundraiser the Big Pals-Little Pals organization holds during the year. Participating teams will receive a Bowl-A-Thon T-shirt, bowl two games and win prizes throughout the day.
There are several ways to get involved: Form a four-member bowling team with a $120 entry fee for the team; a business, organization or church group can sponsor four Big and Little Pals to bowl by making a $120 donation; contribute free products or gift certificates to be used as prizes for the Bowl-A-Thon; or purchase Bowl-A-Thon raffle tickets. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Big Pals-Little Pals office, Art Editions or from Big Pals-Little Pals board members for $5 a ticket or five tickets for $20. You need not be present to win.

Mobile unit offers screenings
COLUMBUS -- The Hy-Vee Healthy You mobile unit will be at the Columbus Wellness Center, 3912 38th St., from 7:30-11:30 a.m. Nov. 14 to offer health and wellness screenings to the community.
Screenings include blood glucose, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides, as well as blood pressure screenings and body fat measurements. Individuals must be 18 years old or older for the wellness profile screenings and a 12-hour fast is recommended. To register for lab work screenings, call 402-562-4490. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Free blood pressure and bone mineral density screening will also be offered at the Hy-Vee Healthy You mobile, as well as nutritional education. No appointments are needed for these services.

Boone County holding Big Give
Entering its fourth year, the Boone County Big Give will include 25 charitable organizations.
During this year's event, gifts will be accepted Nov. 27-Dec. 2 at all county bank locations and organization locations. The Boone County Big Give is a concentrated awareness campaign underwritten by the Boone County Foundation Fund and supported by numerous sponsors.
