Free screening of documentary
OSCEOLA -- The Polk County Historical Society will present a special screening of the documentary "Taking Lena Home" at 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 531 Polk St., in Osceola.
This event is free and open to the public. In 2000, Los Angeles-based artist Alexandra Grant discovered a tombstone in a junk shop in Wyoming from an infant who died in 1880. This documentary follows the story of how this tombstone made its way back to its rightful place in Polk.
Desserts and light refreshments will be served following the screening.
AG holding mobile office
COLUMBUS -- The Nebraska Attorney General’s Mobile Office will be in Columbus from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday at the Columbus Community Center, 3111 19th St.
Attorney General Doug Peterson is expected to visit the mobile office during the day. Staff will be available to assist consumers with requesting free credit reports, registering for the national do not call/do not mail registries, requesting a security freeze, blocking scam calls and reporting scams, among other information.

Ghosts, goblins at local library
COLUMBUS -- Ghosts, Goblins and Ghouls! with Dorothy Rieke will be presented at 2 p.m. Sunday at Columbus Art Gallery in the lower level of Columbus Public Library.
There will be discussion about what makes a story scary, with plenty of terrifying examples. There are age-appropriate stories to thrill and chill third-graders up to adults. This program is sponsored by the Friends of Columbus Public Library and Girl Scout Troop 50331. The event is free and open to the public.
Electronics recycling event
COLUMBUS -- Keep Columbus Beautiful will hold a collection for used or broken electronics from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 4 at First United Methodist Church, 2710 14th St.
Items accepted include televisions, computers, printers, scanners, phones, fax machines and radio equipment. Charges for televisions are $20 for 20 inches or larger and $10 for 19 inches or smaller. Items not accepted include microwaves, refrigerators, stoves and toasters.

Husker party at St. Isidore
COLUMBUS -- The St. Isidore Knights of Columbus will host a Husker football party Saturday at the St. Isidore cafeteria, 3921 20th St.
Doors will open two hours before game time, with BBQ pork provided by the State Knights. Cost is $20 per person, with drawings for cash and a Smart TV. There will also be prizes each quarter and each score. Bring your own beverage and chairs. Alcohol is allowed.
Proceeds will be used to support youth activities, vocations and the Rose for Motherhood program at St. Isidore Catholic Church.
