Free screening of documentary

OSCEOLA -- The Polk County Historical Society will present a special screening of the documentary "Taking Lena Home" at 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 531 Polk St., in Osceola.

This event is free and open to the public. In 2000, Los Angeles-based artist Alexandra Grant discovered a tombstone in a junk shop in Wyoming from an infant who died in 1880. This documentary follows the story of how this tombstone made its way back to its rightful place in Polk.

Desserts and light refreshments will be served following the screening.

CPPD requests notifications

COLUMBUS -- Cornhusker Public Power District customers considering a new or upgraded electrical service are asked to contact the utility's engineering department as soon as possible at 402-564-2821.

Engineering department hours are 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

“It is important our engineering department has time to conduct load profile/interconnection studies to determine if the new service will require any electrical service upgrades,” said CPPD CEO and general manager Clay Gibbs.
