Tractor Supply farmers market

COLUMBUS -- Tractor Supply is looking for farmers, crafters and artisans to sell their homemade and homegrown goods at its farmers market from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.

Tractor Supply is encouraging crafters and growers with an interest in everything from homemade crafts and candles to baked goods, art and gardening to sign up. To register, vendors can visit or sign up at the Columbus store. Nonprofit organizations and food trucks are also welcome to register. Participants will be able to sell their goods and services free of charge in tented areas near the storefront.

Photo contest entries sought

COLUMBUS -- The Columbus/Platte County Convention and Visitors Bureau is sponsoring a photography contest.

This contest is open to professional and amateur photographers; all ages are welcome. Photographs can be entered in four categories: festivals, outdoor activities and vistas, nature still life and landmarks. Prizes will be awarded in each category with an overall best of show winner. All photographs must be of events, people or scenes in Platte County. Entries will be accepted until Oct. 13.

Fundraiser supports CHS band

COLUMBUS -- The Columbus High School band will hold a fundraiser 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Godfather’s Pizza, 779 33rd Ave.

Fifteen percent of all dine-in and carry-out sales will be donated to the band.

One-person theater event

SCHUYLER -- One-person Theater: Far as the Eye Can See will be held 3-4:15 p.m. Oct. 15 at St. Benedict Center.

The performance celebrates Nebraska’s 150th birthday by actor Pippa White, telling true stories of the early pioneers who crossed the prairie, the later pioneers who settled it, the brave people of the Dust Bowl, and the Native American people who struggled to keep the prairie that once belonged only to them. White has extensive background in theater and television, including five years as a hostess on daily morning television at ABC in San Francisco.

Diabetes event in Columbus

COLUMBUS -- The 14th annual Diabetes Awareness Day will be held 3:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Columbus Wellness Center.

The event will include guest speakers, cooking demonstration, a question-and-answer session, food and prizes. Event screenings will include blood sugar, blood pressure, hearing, vision and bone density. Vaccines and additional tests will be available for a fee, including flu shots, cholesterol screening, Prevnar 13 vaccine and Pneumovax vaccine.
