Casino bus trip planned

SCHUYLER -- The Colfax County Senior Center in Schuyler will have a WinnaVegas Casino bus trip fundraiser Monday.

Pickup locations are Columbus, Schuyler, North Bend and Fremont. Cost is $10 per person, payable when boarding the bus. Reservations are due by Friday.

Road work on Highway 39

NORFOLK -- Weather permitting, the Nebraska Department of Transportation will begin armor coating on Highway 39 today.

The project begins at the Platte-Nance county line and ends at St. Edward. Travel will be reduced to one lane and traffic will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot car.

Work is anticipated to be completed late Friday afternoon.

Tractor Supply farmers market

COLUMBUS -- Tractor Supply is looking for farmers, crafters and artisans to sell their homemade and homegrown goods at its farmers market from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 7.

Tractor Supply is encouraging crafters and growers with an interest in everything from homemade crafts and candles to baked goods, art and gardening to sign up. To register, vendors can visit TSCEventPartners.com or sign up at the Columbus store. Nonprofit organizations and food trucks are also welcome to register. Participants will be able to sell their goods and services free of charge in tented areas near the storefront.

Knights holding pancake feed

COLUMBUS -- The Knights of Columbus Council 938 invites the public to a pancake breakfast from 7-11:30 a.m. Sunday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 3115 Sixth St.

Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, hash browns and trimmings. Cost is $6.50 for adults and $4 for children. Proceeds will support seminarian. Carry-out will be available.

Food Feud at Lakeview

COLUMBUS -- The fifth annual Football Food Feud will be held 7 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Scotus versus Lakeview football game being played at Lakeview.

Fans attending the game may bring cans of food to fill the Scotus and Lakeview trucks. Whichever truck has the most goods by the end of the first quarter will be the winner of the Food Feud. All food will be donated to Simon House and the Platte County Food Pantry. The trucks are being donated for the evening's collection by Ernst Auto.

This event is sponsored by the Scotus and Lakeview FBLA chapters.

Square-dancing at local VFW

COLUMBUS -- Harold’s Squares Square Dance Club of Columbus will have a dance at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the VFW Club, 2720 23rd St.

The theme will be Go Big Red, with caller Darwin Barker. The group meets on the first and third Sundays of each month.
