Register for nursing program
COLUMBUS -- Registration is open for a nursing assistant class that will be held Oct. 16-Nov. 13 at Central Community College-Columbus.
Students must attend a mandatory orientation session, but class hours are flexible. Class is limited to the first 15 individuals who register. The cost is $395, which includes in-state tuition, fees and books.

Assertiveness workshop at CCC
COLUMBUS -- A workshop, “Say It with Backbone, not Bite,” will be offered 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Oct. 26 in the West Education Center, Room 177, at Central Community College-Columbus.
Workshop participants will learn how to develop their ability to think assertively, feel confident and behave positively. They’ll receive guidelines for word choices, behaviors and numerous exercises that will help them change how they interact with others. They will also discover how to use assertive communication to solve problems, make decisions, overcome conflict, negotiate agreements and build strong teams. The cost is $65, with registration due by Oct. 19.

Ricketts hosting steak fry event
LINCOLN (AP) — Gov. Pete Ricketts has announced plans for an annual "Nebraska Steak Fry" that will debut with four fellow Republican governors.
The governor's re-election campaign said Wednesday the event will include Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin, Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. It will take place Oct. 8 at a farm in Shelton in central Nebraska.
Organizers say the inaugural event will include a steak fry, music, family games and a program of elected officials from Nebraska to celebrate agriculture, the state's largest industry.
Single tickets cost $20 and family tickets can be purchased for $35. A 50 percent "early bird" discount is available by using the code "HUSKER" during checkout on the governor's campaign website, www.petericketts.com.
Winter flights head to Florida
OMAHA (AP) — Frontier Airlines will offer nonstop flights from Omaha and southwest Florida this winter.
The service will begin Nov. 9 and be offered Thursdays and Sundays through Dec. 7. It will fly on Mondays and Fridays after Dec. 15.
The flight will leave Fort Myers, Florida, at 10:20 a.m. and arrive in Omaha at 12:53 p.m. It will leave Omaha at 1:50 p.m. and arrive in Fort Myers at 5:55 p.m.
Frontier also flies nonstop to Denver and seasonally to Orlando International Airport.
