Cottonwood holding activities

COLUMBUS -- Cottonwood Place, 3271 29th Ave., has a variety of activities planned for National Assisted Living Week, Sept. 10-16.

Sip, Paint and Create with Amy Cooney is scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Participants will make a unique door hanger. Cost is $10 per person. RSVPs are requested by Monday to Cooney at 402-276-0762.

A Bingo Bash will be held 2-3:30 p.m. Friday. There will be refreshments and many prizes. RSVP by Wednesday to Cooney.

Family Fun Night, set for 4:30-7 p.m. Sept. 16, will host the Horn T Zoo from Monroe. There will also be grilled hot dogs and games. RSVP by Thursday to Sharon Ziegler at 402-562-9136.

Grief Share starting series

COLUMBUS -- The Grief Share grief recovery support group will begin meeting Thursday at Word of Life Church, 3701 23rd St.

Sessions will be held at 6:30 p.m. every Thursday for 13 weeks, ending Dec. 14. Grief Share helps those who have lost a loved one through the healing process.

WinnaVegas bus trip planned

SCHUYLER -- The Colfax County Senior Center in Schuyler will have a WinnaVegas Casino bus trip fundraiser Sept. 18.

Pickup locations are Columbus, Schuyler, North Bend and Fremont. Cost is $10 per person, payable when boarding the bus. Reservations are due by Friday.

Open house at senior center

GENOA -- The Pawnee Senior Center, 115 N. Oak St. in Genoa, will have an open house showcase the week of Sept 11-15.

The center will stay open until 6 p.m. all week. Refreshments and drinks will be offered, and there will be information available on services and meals. There will be a Dancing Queens class at 5:30 p.m. on Monday and Thursday, and Bonnie Pearson will sing following the Tuesday evening meal. The grand finale on Friday includes an outdoor picnic with the Country Roads band at 4 p.m. There will be a freewill donation sloppy Joe supper and free “suds” and pop.

Hazwoper course at Central CC

COLUMBUS -- A 24-hour hazwoper training course will be offered 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 3-5 in the West Education Center, Room 176, at Central Community College-Columbus.

The course is designed for employees engaged in the emergency response, containment, control and cleanup of hazardous materials. Class size is limited so preregistration is required by Sept. 26 to reserve a space. The cost is $430.
