St. Mary announces summer grads

OMAHA -- The following area students were among the 115 summer graduates at the College of Saint Mary: David City - Jamie Hilderbrand, EDD; Lindsay - Michelle McPhillips, MOT; Osceola - Morgan Hoeppner, MOT. These students were able to walk at commencement in May, and received their official degrees in July.

Irsik graduates from Concordia

SEWARD -- Concordia University awarded 116 degrees in August.

Bryan Irsik of Shelby was among the graduates, earning a Master of Science degree.

Future leaders recognized

LINCOLN -- U.S. Bank recently announced the names of the 2017-18 Believers and Achievers, a statewide program designed by U.S. Bank and the NSAA to give recognition to Nebraska’s future leaders.

Seniors who have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.75 and participate in NSAA-sponsored activities are eligible for nomination. Selection is based on commitment to citizenship, school involvement and community projects. A total of 48 Nebraska high school seniors were honored as Believers and Achievers, and eight will be selected to receive $500 scholarships from U.S. Bank to the college or university of their choice.

Among the nominees are Dustin Ternus of Humphrey St. Francis and Brock Wiese of Lindsay Holy Family. Students will be recognized and scholarships awarded at a banquet in April.

School winners include the following: Columbus High School - Mia Janssen, Catherine Veseth; Lakeview - Marina Jimenez, Megan Morton; Scotus Central Catholic - Maggie Feehan, Kendra Wiese; Cross County - Madison Baker, Alexis Eller; Humphrey St. Francis - Dustin Ternus, Nathan Weidner; Lindsay Holy Family - Brock Wiese; Newman Grove - Evelyn Estrada-Gonzalez, Caden Ranslem; Osceola - Samantha Hays, Derek Voigt; Schuyler - Auston Hall, Claire Martin; Shelby-Rising City - Sydnie Adams.
