Getting hooked by a new television show is a wonderful feeling. The feeling of riding the wave from one episode to another is fun and addicting.
But in some instances, networks cut off the supply and cancel the series before you even have the chance to find out what's next. NBC's critical darling "Freaks and Geeks" was one of these shows that many audiences believe was axed too soon in 2000. Those 18 episodes received low ratings initially, but have evolved into what many feel was a missed opportunity for a potentially iconic show.
PrettyFamous, an entertainment data site, ranked the best TV shows that didn't make it past the first season. The data experts considered single-season shows with over 10,000 IMDb votes and ordered them according to their Smart Rating. This is a weighted score out of 100 that takes into account a show's IMDb votes, IMDb rating and the number of Emmy awards it won. Shows had to air before Jan. 4, 2017.
