Bill gives people 'right to try' drugs
On the Legislature's agenda this week is a bill (LB117) known as the Investigational Drug Use Act, but more commonly called "Right to Try." The bill allows eligible patients to be treated with any drug, biological product, or device that has successfully completed Phase 1 of a clinical trial, but has not yet been approved for general use by the U.S Food and Drug Administration and remains in an approved clinical trial. The bill was introduced by Omaha Sen. Robert Hilkemann.
Bill calls for licensed care investigation
Sen. Lynne Walz of Fremont introduced a resolution (LR296) calling for creation of a special legislative committee to investigate conditions at state-licensed care facilities.
