COLUMBUS — Robert Quick and his wife Ernestine had a great appreciation for art.
While Robert, who became the first preparator at Columbus Art Gallery 35 years ago, was busy displaying local art and adding new pieces to the gallery, Ernestine was in her studio working on her own pieces. She was able to showcase much of her artwork across the Midwest.
After her death, Robert donated a memorial to the art gallery in honor of his late wife. This started the annual Ernestine Quick Memorial Art Exhibit and Competition, which features pieces using a variety of media made by Nebraska artists.
This year’s exhibit is on display through Feb. 3 at Columbus Art Gallery, located in the lower level of Columbus Public Library.
