Bea was born July 10, 1935, in Adair, Iowa, to Roy and Ethelyn (Huss) Hopkins. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair. After high school graduation, Bea moved to Omaha, Nebraska, to work as an elevator operator and then for the City of Omaha as a parking ambassador. She was a proud member of Kountz Memorial Church where she was active in the church choir and did many solos.
Bea’s greatest love was singing, and she brought joy to those that she shared her gift with, most recently to the residents and staff at Brookstone Acres. Not only did Bea sing in her church choir, but also as a member of the Omaha Symphony. After moving to Columbus, Bea joined Peace Lutheran Church.
Bea is survived by her sister, Wilma (Chuck) Fowler of Columbus, sister Margaret (Jerry) Knox of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nieces Kara (Mike) Taber of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Laurel Knox of Des Moines, Iowa; and nephew Daniel Gondringer of Lincoln.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ethelyn Hopkins and niece SueAnn DeVries
Bea’s faith in God was strong and deep and she often quoted the following poem:
There is a place called heaven,
I know not when or where.
Just give your heart to Jesus,
And He will lead you there.
