ALBION — Carolyn Jane Schoening, 87, of Albion, passed away Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at the Central City Care Center in Central City.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Zion Lutheran Church of Albion with the Rev. David Frerichs officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home of Albion. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association, Zion Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.

Carolyn Jane Schoening, the daughter of Vern and Christine (Parker) Case, was born on Oct. 31, 1930, at St. Edward. She attended school in St. Edward. Following her schooling she worked as a waitress.
On Sept. 19, 1962, Jane was united in marriage to Galen Schoening at Yankton, South Dakota. They resided in Albion where Jane worked as a housewife and homemaker.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Albion and sang in the choir there. Jane was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to spend time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Jane also enjoyed her time with her family hunting and fishing.
She is survived by her five children, Dan (Rose) Schoening of Sidney, Jim (Sue) Schoening of Columbus, Phyllis (Larry) Gleich of Yankton, South Dakota, Carolyn (Ed) Kristine of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Randy (Judy) Forinash of Ida Grove, Iowa; four grandchildren, Bryan (Brooke) Schoening of Sidney, Tyler Schoening of Grand Island and Jenna and Morgan Schoening of Lincoln; two great-grandchildren, Zella and Audrey; three brothers, Sam (Jane) Case of Columbus, Charles (Dolores) Case of Columbus and Michael (Phyllis) Case of El Mirage, Arizona; sister, Norma Case of St. Edward; three brothers-in-law, Clinton Gates of Columbus, Norman Elstermeier of Grand Island and Bud Kennedy of Grand Island; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Galen; brothers, Gerald, Robert, James, Vern Jr., Donald and Freddy Case; and sisters, Elizabeth Valdamar, Eleanor Johnson, Ann Emigh, Nadine Ennis and Jean Gates.
