HUMPHREY — Coletta W. Wemhoff, 98, of Humphrey, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at Countryside Home in Madison.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey and burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, with Fr. Patrick A. McLaughlin and Fr. James Weeder officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with a 4 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. Scripture service, and 9 a.m. Monday, all at the church.
Coletta was born Sept. 17, 1919, near St. Bernard, the daughter of Charles A. and Helen (Sueper) Beiermann, and attended St. Bernard Catholic School. On Jan. 28, 1941, Coletta and Anthony B. Wemhoff were united in marriage in St. Bernard Catholic Church near Lindsay. She and Tony lived in Geneseo, Illinois, returning to rural St. Mary’s to farm. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and playing cards. She mastered the art of tatting.
Surviving are her daughters Marilyn (Williams) Heesacker of Humphrey, Lois Merrill of Humphrey, Beverly (Neil) Kemper of St. Edward, Kathleen (Jerry) Burgess of Concordia, Kansas, Judy (Tom) Gant of Martell, Peggy (Clark) Evans of Concordia, Kansas, Geri (Randy) Bender of Humphrey and Jeanette (Terry) Helmer of Humphrey; 31 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and brother Alfred (Jeanie) Beiermann of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Anthony; daughter Charlotte Wemhoff; sons Michael and Lyle; sons-in-law Steve Toogood and Allen Merrill; sister Sister Gorgonia Wemhoff, OSF; brother Alois Beiermann; and half-brother Matt Beiermann.
