COLUMBUS — Doreen Lily Mohr, 94, of Columbus, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017, at Morys Haven nursing home in Columbus.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with the Rev. Patrick Sparling officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Doreen was born March 6, 1923, in David City to Oscar and Lillie (Balliet) Pace. She attended Bellwood area schools. Growing up during the Depression, Doreen, the youngest of eight children, did not always know if they would have anything to eat for dinner. Doreen survived diphtheria as a child. She enjoyed fishing and playing baseball with her brothers and sisters.
In 1946, Doreen was united in marriage to William Mohr at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed going to the dog races in South Dakota and watching the Braves play baseball, even though she was in competition with Bill, who was a Cardinals fan. Doreen always had a smile on her face, and was always ready to help those she loved.
Doreen is survived by her nieces and nephews.
Doreen was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Lillie Pace; husband, Bill Mohr; brothers, Pearl, Don, George and Virgil Pace; and sisters, Ethel Ostrander, Eileen Pace and Velma Olson.
