Edward Schrant of Columbus died Friday, March 2, 2018 at Mory's Haven in Columbus.
Edward Schrant was born Jan. 25, 1929 in Humphrey to Ben and Cecelia (Van Ackeren) Schrant. He grew up in Humphrey where he attended St. Francis schools. Ed married Lou Jean Frauendorfer at Sacred Heart Church in Cornlea on Nov. 22, 1950. He farmed in the Creston and Madison area. They lived in Norfolk, Duncan, and for the last several years in Columbus. Ed loved to tinker and fix machinery.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Visitation is being held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at McKown Funeral home followed by a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation continues from 8-10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Inurnment is being held at St. Francis Cemetery in Humphrey.
Ed is survived by son Jim (Marcia) Schrant of Humphrey; son Mike (Pat) Schrant of Bellevue; granddaughter Jenna (Jordan) Engle of Sutton; great-grandchildren Josie and Carson Engle, sister Catherine Cook of Columbus; Sister JoAnn Albracht of California and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lou Jean Schrant, parents, sisters Mary Eckholt and Margaret Albracht and brother William Schrant.
