AURORA — Erma E. Rickert, 98, of Aurora, formerly of Columbus, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Tabitha Hospice Care.
Erma was born June 27, 1919, in Platte County to Alois and Ernestine (Rohrich) Brix. She attended District 9 School through the eighth grade. On April 7, 1937, Erma was united in marriage to Clarence Rickert in Columbus. They farmed north of Columbus for many years. She raised chickens and sold or gave away the eggs. She loved her chickens and her cats. She remained on the farm until 2007 when she moved to Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Erma is survived by her son Dwayne (Barbara) Rickert of Hampton; grandchildren Dawn (Rusty) Ogden of Hampton, Sheila (Jud) Carpenter of Henderson, Nevada, and Scott Rickert of Las Vegas, Nevada; great-grandchildren Anthony (Beth) Ogden, Ty Ogden, Weston Ogden, Naomi Carpenter and Daphne Carpenter; sisters-in-law Ruth Rickert, Mary Jayne Rickert and Laverna Rickert; and many nieces and nephews.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents Alois and Ernstine Brix, husband Clarence Rickert, brother Louis Brix and sister Margaret Welch.
