PLATTE CENTER — Janice Hueschen, 68, of Platte Center, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at Columbus Community Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery-Grand Prairie, rural Platte Center. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, with a 5 p.m. vigil, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, all at the church.
Janice was born June 15, 1949, in Columbus to Rudy and Irene (Small) Slusarski. She received her early education at St. Bonaventure Grade School, Monroe Public Schools and graduated from Monroe High in 1967. She continued her education at Kearney State College with a degree in home economics in 1971. Janice married Lee Hueschen on Aug. 7, 1971, at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Along with raising her family she taught at Columbus Jr. High, Central Community College, Scotus and Lakeview High School. She also worked as a substitute teacher in many schools. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the area Home Economics Club, 4-H Leader and EMHC, and taught CCD. Janice enjoyed sewing, gardening, quilting, cooking, traveling and most of all spending time with her family.
Janice is survived by her husband Lee Hueschen of Platte Center, daughter Amy (Bob) Soulliere Jr. of Columbus, grandchildren Luke and Ainsley Soulliere, son Quinn (Sarah) of Parker, Colorado, one expected grandchild, son Scott (Brooke) Hueschen of Joshua Tree, California, son Derek Hueschen of Monroe, brother Richard (Joyce) Slusarski of Montrose, Colorado, brother Jerome (Peg) Slusarski of Columbus, sister Barbara (Michael) Metzger of Kearney and sister Paula (Tim) Kelly of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her son Kent and parents Rudy and Irene Slusarski.
