Jean Morris


Jean Morris, 89, of Genoa died Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at the Genoa Community Hospital, LTC.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Bill L'Heureux celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the church with a 7 p.m. vigil service following. Visitation will continue from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Jean was born Jan. 10, 1929, in Malmo to Ambrose and Kathryn (Slattery) Shananhan. They moved to Genoa when Jean was very young and she spent the rest of her life in Genoa. She attended Genoa Public School. On March 24, 1950, Jean was united in marriage to Clifford “Killer” Morris in Genoa. Jean was a stay-at-home mom and raised her six children. She was a CCD teacher at St. Rose of Lima, and she loved being the greeter at the annual Jiggs Dinner for many, many years. She enjoyed sports and loved to follow the old Genoa Orioles, and then the Titans, and also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs. She was very proud of her Irish heritage. She collected all things Irish and loved it when people sent her things to add to her display. Above all, she loved to spend time with her family.

Jean is survived by sons Joe Morris of Whitewright, Texas; Jerry Morris of Lincoln; Bob Morris of Norfolk; Jeff Morris of Genoa; daughter Becky Robins of Blair; sisters Joan Schweigart, Clayre Henthorn, Marlene Shanahan, all of Omaha; Caryl Vondra of Lincoln; Patricia (Bill) Armstrong of Bellevue; sister-in-laws Leta Shanahan of La Vista; and Karen Shanahan of Broomfield, Colorado.

Surviving grandchildren include: Ben, Andy, Greg, Chris (Krystal), Ryan (Brittney), Jason (Josie), Meagan, Tyler (Leah), Lindsey, Kramer, Connor, Katie (Jeremy Nichols), Joshua (Genie Burgmeyer), Ann (Luke Leehy), Zach Timm, Brandon Plamondon, Seth (Brittne), Logan (Sophie) and Spencer (Katie.)

Surviving great-grandchildren include: Emrie, Quinton, Brock, Ryder, Samantha, Natalie, Nevaeh, Alaya, Quincy, Brayden, Ayvah, Norah, Amiyah and Lucy.

Jean was preceded in death by parents Ambrose and Katherine Shanahan, husband Cliff “Killer” Morris, son Bill Morris, sister Betty Casey and brothers Pat and Bill Shanahan.
