Karen (Buresh) Afsharimehr, 55, of Columbus died Saturday, April 7, 2018 at her home in Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial is being held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 1565 18th Ave. A 7 p.m. vigil is being held Wednesday, April 11, at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation is being held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30-10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment is being held at Schuyler Cemetery. The graveside will follow the luncheon in Columbus. In Lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family.
Karen Afsharimehr was born June 24, 1962 in Columbus to Edward and Jane (Smith) Buresh. She grew up in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School in 1980. Karen went on to Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL where she graduated with a degree in Special Education. On June 26, 1985 she was united in marriage to Mehrdad Afsharimehr in Omaha. They lived in Florida where she worked at a detention center for boys. She thoroughly enjoyed her work and was referred to by the residents as Mrs. A. In 2003, Karen returned to Columbus where she has lived since. She loved college football, reading, the Huskers, anything Disney, playing games on family holidays, collecting music boxes and watching movies.
Karen is survived by her mother, Jane Buresh of Columbus, sister Lynn (Jeff) Kuhnel of Columbus, brother Michael Buresh of Omaha, sister Debbie (Carlos) Gutierrez of Scio, Ore.; nieces and nephews Hunter, McKenna, Angelica, Carlos, Jr, Joey, Israel, Lukas, LaNae, Emily, and Mia; adopted Canine Children Angel, Daisy and Shadow.
She is preceded in death by her father, Edward Buresh, Uncle Carl Sobolewski, cousins Jim Spale and Patti Scappa and her Dog, Muffin.
