NEWMAN GROVE — Services for Katherine Becher, 97, of Newman Grove, will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove with burial to follow at Hope Cemetery.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the church.
She died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017, at the Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home in Newman Grove.
Katherine, the daughter of Marinus and Nickolina (Thompson) Christensen, was born Nov. 16, 1920, at rural Lindsay. She attended school in Platte County in the Rosenberg area. She married Walt Becher in Waco, Texas. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the founder of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and served as its president for many years. She was a homemaker and babysitter and loved making lap quilts. She stayed in tune and took notice of local and world current events. She loved children, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandson.
She is survived by her children, Al "Rocky" Becher and his wife Betty of Gretna and daughter Kaye Becher of Columbus; grandchildren, Jason Becher and Jennifer Eno; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Kailyn Fauchier; and great-great-grandson, Liam Eno.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Rickki Becher; brothers, Harold Christensen, Iner Christensen, Nels Christensen and William Christensen and his twin sister Elonora Blair; sisters, Marie Johnson, Lorene Henry, Alice Melcher and Elvena Hoadley and one infant sister.
