LEIGH -- Linda Wietfeld, 68, of Leigh, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at the Columbus Community Hospital.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus, with Rev. Cory Burma and Rev. Michael Klatt officiating. Family interment will be in the Leigh City Cemetery in Leigh. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Leigh Fire and Rescue or donor's choice.
Linda Wietfeld was born Dec. 12, 1949, in Manning, Iowa, to John and Elda (Ewoldt) Ehrichs. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Linda graduated from Manning High School and attended Concordia Teachers College in Seward for one year. Linda worked at Dale Electronics prior to her marriage to James “Jim” Wietfeld on Aug. 21, 1971, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.
Linda was a farm wife and did babysitting before going to work as a para educator for Leigh Elementary School. She then went to work for J & L Automotive as a secretary, where she was currently employed. Linda enjoyed acrylic painting, craft painting, cooking, baking desserts, flowers, and antiques. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus.
Linda is survived by husband Jim Wietfeld of Leigh, son Brian (Angie) Wietfeld of Leigh, daughter Jamie Wietfeld of Omaha, grandchildren Connor and Hannah Johnson of Leigh, brother John Ehrichs of Manning, Iowa, sister Rosemary (Bob) Stamm of Columbus, sister-in-law Marlene Groteluschen of Lincoln, brother-in-law Larry Wietfeld of Leigh, brother-in-law Paul Wietfeld of Humphrey, brother-in-law Kenny Wietfeld of Leigh, sister-in-law Sheryl Wietfeld-Johnson of Leigh.
Linda was preceded in death by parents John and Elda Ehrichs, brothers-in-law Bob Wietfeld and Willie Groteluschen and sisters-in-law Vicki Wietfeld and Terri Wietfeld.
