BELGRADE -- Mary A. Goelz, 86 years old, of Belgrade, died Wednesday March 13, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Center in Osceola.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Fullerton. Rev. Allen L. Pingel will officiate. Burial will be in the Main Cemetery in Belgrade.
Visitation will be Friday 5-7 p.m. at the church.
Palmer Funeral Home, of Fullerton, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Goelz was born July 8, 1926, in McCook, to Paul and Marie (Wind) Smith. She attended rural schools. On June 16, 1950, she married Lawrence Goelz in Fremont. They lived in Grand Island, Central City and Belgrade.
She worked at the Bel-Horst Inn, in Belgrade, and baked for the Belgrade Public School for several years. She moved to Fullerton for several years before moving to Columbus. In 2006, she entered Osceola Good Samaritan Home where she resided till her death.
She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, in Fullerton, and a lifetime member of the Belgrade American Legion Auxiliary Post 99. She enjoyed mending jeans, crafts, gardening, cooking, baking and listening to music.
Survivors include two sons, August “Augie” (Maxine), of Shelby, and Duane, of Belgrade; two daughters, Patricia (Roy) Bills, of Columbus, and Neva (Steve) Umstead, of Fullerton; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lucille Fowler, of Oberlin, Kan.
She was preceded in death by one son, Francis; four brothers, Ray, Clifford, Allen and Anthony; and three sisters, Esther Offner, Pauline Bradley and Margaret Meguire.
