COLUMBUS — Funeral services for Maxine J. Anderson, 97, of Columbus, formerly of Norfolk, will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home in Norfolk.
Pastor Shelly Petz will officiate, with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Maxine died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.
Maxine Jane Anderson, daughter of Conrad Fischer and Nan Christopherson, was born June 30, 1920, in Des Moines, Iowa, where she later graduated from high school. She was married to Donald Linde Anderson on March 21, 1941, in Des Moines. Maxine and Don moved to Norfolk where they raised three sons Don, Steve and Gary.
She was a homemaker and also worked at Northrup King Seed Company and Arrow Stage Lines. While in Norfolk, she was a member of First United Methodist Church as well as Norfolk Country Club. She volunteered at her church and for Meals on Wheels. After her husband’s death in 1977, Maxine lived in Norfolk, Olathe, Kansas, and Columbus. She died on Sept. 23, 2017, in Columbus at the age of 97.
Survivors include her sons and their wives Don and Connie Anderson of Columbus, Steve and Ellen Anderson of Olathe, Kansas, and Gary and Barbara Anderson of Papillion; as well as Alois Steinbichler, an Austrian exchange student. Maxine adored her seven grandchildren James Anderson, Julie Anderson Myers, Lisa Tallant, Steven Anderson Jr., Nicole Anderson, Ryan Anderson and Lindsey Anderson Phillips. They gave her 11 great-grandchildren Kaitleyn Myers, Dustyn Klave, Raileyn Myers, Laeyn Myers, Lexie Borron, Colin Borron, Emily Borron, Jada Anderson, Jesse Lee, Blake Anderson, Reese Phillips, plus one great-great-grandchild, Elise Botts.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Don and sisters Delores Fischer and Lorraine Fischer Reeck.
