COLUMBUS -- Patrick E. Galley, 49, of Columbus, died Monday, January 20, 2014, at the Columbus Community Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2014, at St. Bonaventure Church, in Columbus, with Reverend Tim Forget officiating. Interment will be in the All Saints Catholic Cemetery in Columbus, NE.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. vigil service, continuing 8-10 a.m. Friday, all at McKown Funeral Home.

Patrick E. Galley was born September 4, 1964, in Columbus, to Vincent and Linda (Week) Galley. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1983. While in high school, Pat played football and wrestled for the Discoverers. He was selected to the all-conference football team in 1982-83 and played in the Shrine Bowl. He was also a member of the 1982 state champion wrestling team and placed third in the 1983 state wrestling meet.

After high school Pat attended Nebraska Wesleyan University, where he played football and was voted freshman lineman of the year. Pat returned to Columbus where he worked as a machine operator at Appleton Electric. He also worked for Ewert Drywall and was currently employed at Cargill Meat Solutions in Columbus. Pat enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting and softball. His greatest passion was playing golf and watching it on TV. Pat was a member of St. Bonaventure Church.

He is survived by his parents, Vincent and Linda Galley, of Columbus; sister, Kim (Dan) Korger, of Columbus; sister, Lori Hall, of Columbus; niece, Amber (Kip) Glatter; (Shawn, Laci and Abbie, Kirsten, Sarah and Amanda); nephew, Adam Korger (Kayla Mohr); niece, Alicia Korger; (Breysen); niece, Audra Korger; niece, Kayla Galley; (Claire and Zoey); nephew, Keenan Hall; and niece, Kaitlin Hall.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vincent and Florence Galley; and grandparents, Inar and Evelyn Week.
