Paula Petite Kohl was born on July 2, 1924, in Columbus to Paul P. and Marie C. Pfeifer. Paula received her education from St. Bonaventure in Columbus and graduated in 1942. After graduation, she worked at the JC Penney store before going to Telegraphy School in Omaha. Upon graduation, she then worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in Clarks, where she eventually met her husband and father of their seven children, John F. Kohl Sr. They were united in marriage on Jan. 25, 1944.
The couple moved to their farm northeast of Clarks where they lived for 63 years. In 2005, they moved from the farm and purchased a home in Clarks. Paula was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clarks where she was very active in the Church and Altar Society. She loved teaching CCD. She was employed at the Litzenberg Hospital for over 20 years. After retiring, she then volunteered in long term for many years.
Her greatest love was spending time with her family. She loved having the grandkids spend the night, going swimming with them and attending their many activities. She loved gathering the family together and playing cards. Paula had the biggest heart and always made sure everyone was taken care of before herself. Her family and her faith was her life.
Her positive attitude and energetic enthusiasm for life and courageous spirit will truly be missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
