Robert “Bob” Michael Duranski, 77, of Peoria, Ariz., passed away with family by his side on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018.

He was born Dec. 21, 1940 in Columbus to Leo and Laverna Duranski. In his younger years, he was an altar boy and the oldest of five children. He is survived by his brother Gary (Jane) Duranski of Columbus; two sisters, Sue (Dave) Lutton of Ashland and Pat (Chuck) Helms of Huxley, Iowa, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. As a kid Bob was one of the original group of kids that signed up to play Little League Baseball in Columbus. He was the catcher on the 1953 Little League League All-Star team that came within one game of playing in the Little League World Series. In High School, he played basketball and participated in track.

After high school, he grew nearly 5 inches and played basketball at Lamar Junior College in Colorado and then played for the Army at Ft. Hood, Texas. He earned his business and teaching degree from Wayne State College, where he also played basketball and pole vaulted in Track.

In 1967 he married Vicki Vrooman, and moved to Phoenix to begin his 33 year career as a claims specialist for State Farm. They had two daughters, Lindsey (Michael David) Repak and Lisa (Michael John) Marthaler. Bob enjoyed following any and all sports, going to the movies, golfing, tennis, the horse track and was a huge Nebraska Cornhusker fan.

Vicki and Bob divorced, but stayed close like family enjoying their daughters and their lives, and four grandchildren, Riley (14) and Ryan (12) Repak, and Annabella (13) and Vicki Jean (11) Marthaler. Bob loved to watch his grandchildren grow and loved to slide them sweets. He often spoke of what a beautiful and full life he’d lived.
