CENTRAL CITY — Ruby I. Schreiber, 87, of Central City, died on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Grace Bible Fellowship in Central City with the Rev. John Prettyman officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Grace Bible Fellowship. Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Lincoln at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com.
Ruby Irene Grauerholz was born on June 25, 1930, to Carl and Martha (Henkel) Grauerholz in Kensington, Kansas. Ruby grew up in Kensington and graduated from Kensington High School. Following her graduation, Ruby and her parents moved to Columbus, where she met Paul Schreiber. She and Paul were united in marriage on Feb. 19, 1950, at St. John’s Lutheran Church (Shell Creek) in Columbus.
They began running the Night and Day Café in Columbus with Paul’s mother until eventually moving to Aurora. In July 1995, they moved to Central City, where she would remain until her death.
Ruby enjoyed watching sports, and following her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they participated in many activities. She also greatly enjoyed traveling and visiting family. Her faith in God and her family were very important to her and she will be cherished with her good life-long memories.
Survivors include three children Linda (Jim) Lukesh of Lincoln, Deanna (Rick) Huggins of Plano, Texas, and Larry (Denise) Schreiber of Central City; sister Evelyn Levin of Kensington, Kansas; sister-in-law Helen Lyles of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren Elizabeth (Darren) Brickel, Jennifer (Justin) Kilzer, Barbara Lukesh, John (Amanda) Lukesh, Devin (Monica) Huggins, Patrick Huggins, Joshua (Chancey) Schreiber, Amy Schreiber, Andrew (Lydia) Schreiber and Tyler (Jena) Schreiber; 16 great-grandchildren Leah and Nick Kilzer, Lauren Brickel, William and Evie Lukesh, Shane McFarland and Sierra Huggins, Kaden, Gavin and Mackenzie Schreiber, Riley, Tucker, Mason and Oakley Schreiber, Collin and Maddox Schreiber, with one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers-in-law Merlin and Fred, sister Irma Sheley, sister-in-law Marilyn Schreiber and brothers-in-law CW Lyles, Arnold Levin and Don Sheley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Nebraska Christian Schools, Grace Bible Church, Central City, Nebraska, or My Possibilities (in c/o grandson, Patrick Huggins).
