COLUMBUS — Violet Bruhn, 89, of Columbus, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at Columbus Community Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Grace Lutheran Church in Platte Center with the Rev. Brad Birtell officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery in rural Monroe. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and 9-10 a.m. Friday at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 9:45 a.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested as those of the family's choice.
Violet was born April 3, 1928, in Platte County to Fred and Josephine (Rudeman) Keeler. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Violet was united in marriage to Walter Leroy Bruhn on June 9, 1947, at Grace Lutheran Church. To this union two children were born, Leon Allen and Nadine Kathlene.
Violet was actively involved in Ladies Aide and Extension Club. She enjoyed cooking, baking and decorating wedding and birthday cakes. She loved to travel and camp, but mostly, she adored spending time with her family, near and far. Violet’s smile, hugs and genuine kindness touched all who met her.
Violet is survived by her son Leon (Donna) Bruhn of Lincoln; daughter Nadine (Roger) Cattau of Creston; grandson Kevin (Jeanne) Cattau of Norfolk; granddaughter Leslie (Karl Gack) Cattau of Omaha; grandson Ryan (Jenna) Cattau of Shelby; grandson Scott Bruhn of Omaha; grandson B.J. (Raechelle) Bruhn of Lincoln; grandson Michael (Shelly) Bruhn of Lincoln; great-grandchildren Jordan, Ashley, Dylan, Christian and Kayleigh Cattau of Norfolk; great-grandchildren Brooke Miller and Morgan and Madison Gack of Omaha; great-grandchildren Easton and Oakley Cattau of Shelby; great-grandchild Austin Bruhn of Columbus; great-grandchildren Jazmine Jones and Max Bruhn of Lincoln; great-grandchildren Hannah and Kaitlyn Bruhn of Lincoln; and many cherished nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Josephine Keeler; husband Walter Bruhn; sisters Rose (Ed) Carlson, Mary (Al) Sparks, Alice Keeler, Helen (Ira) Kerr and Lena (Ira) Kerr; brothers Arno (Dorothy), Milo (Edna), Charles (Mary) and Harold (Anna) Keeler; and several nieces and nephews.
