COLUMBUS — The lone occupant escaped unharmed Thursday morning when a camper started on fire south of Columbus.

Firefighters were called to 759 S. 33rd Ave., near the junction of highways 30 and 81, around 11 a.m. and remained on scene for about 90 minutes.

Columbus Fire Chief Dan Miller said the camper is a total loss following the fire, which was caused by an electrical malfunction.
