To the Editor:
I am deeply saddened by the closing of Hope Lutheran Church after almost eight years as part of Columbus’s faith community. Having been involved from day one, I know first-hand how challenging and at times difficult starting a new ministry can be, but we were determined to try. Despite the obstacles we faced, the members of Hope always remained optimistic and committed to providing an ELCA church ministry to the community. To our great disappointment, we are unable to move forward with this ministry and the doors have been closed.
I want to take this opportunity to thank each person who made Hope Lutheran Church a presence in the community and who remained committed to the church until the end. Your dedication and work ethic were unsurpassed and working alongside you has been a joy in my life. I truly believe all who had the opportunity to come into contact with Hope and its members left better for the experience and know the loss to the community the closing of Hope will be.
