To the editor:

This is a copy of a letter I have sent to President Trump.

The Honorable Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America

Dear President Trump: I implore that you direct VA Secretary, David Shulkin, to abandon his attempts to strip benefits from our veterans and disabled veterans. I respect that you have a "hands off policy" when issues concern your Cabinet's decisions, however, Secretary Shulkin's plans to take away the individual unemployability payments are a slap in the face of veterans who gave the best years of their lives to the country they love. What does this say to the latest generation of service members who have known 17 years of warfare? Nothing says "thank you" like taking half of your entitlement away.

Indeed, the VA Secretary even has a "Round Down Plan," which would round to the lowest dollar, cost of living adjustments. Not a big loss for veterans in itself, however, the plan shows the way the VA Secretary is going. Taking from the veterans to give to the veterans is an ill-conceived policy at best.

In summary, Secretary Shulkins plans undermine the commitment you made to each veteran and service member or our great country.
